Arby's owner buying Wendy's

Expect to see more consolidation of solid brands like this during rough economic times.

The brand is paramount, and Arby's has proven itself as a valuable brand. Especially with their most recent ad push. It's unique, and it's deseriable for a burger joint like Wendy's who is often considered a "me-too" to McDonalds, Burger King, etc.

Couponing with local media

Coupons aren't just in the Sunday paper anymore!

Many local radio and TV stations are offering couponing or gift-certificate options for promotion via their website. One example is WKRC, which updates their list often. Another is 550AM (55KRC), which runs a promotion every Friday morning with a limited offer to buy discounted gift certificates, often to restarants.

You end up with a lot of advertising, as these events are typically promoted heavily on air, and can drive people to your website and restaurant.

Keep these in mind as options past the Sunday paper way to push your product, if couponing is part of your overall brand strategy.

Find out where the streetcar will be going (and more importantly, stopping), and these could be great locations to set up your next venture!
